Meet Kandice Rose, LCSW
Owner & Clinical Consultant | Psychotherapist
License # 111228
Kandice Rose is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, clinical consultant, and founder of Rose Psychology & Consulting LLC. With more than a decade of clinical and leadership experience across healthcare, education, nonprofit, and community-based settings, she brings a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach to both individual therapy and organizational consulting.
As a three-time cancer survivor who has lost her grandmother, mother, and brother to cancer, Kandice's lived experience is inseparable from her clinical work — and it shows in every session.
Kandice specializes in trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, cancer patients and survivors, and chronic illness. She is the co-founder of Pretty Girls with Cancer™ (est. 2013), a nonprofit delivering therapeutic programming and mental health support to cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers through partnerships with Texas Children's Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and community programs across the Houston area.
Her career spans acute psychiatric hospitals, medical behavioral health settings, senior living communities, legal advocacy organizations, and international education. She served as Director of a psychology department at Tianjiabing International School in Shanghai, China, and has collaborated with legal systems and advocacy organizations — including Mothers Against Drunk Driving — providing clinical support around trauma, grief, and crisis response.
Kandice was selected by the Obama Administration for the HIV/AIDS Task Force at the White House and was recognized by the Austin American-Statesman as a "Mover and Shaker" for her advocacy in combating HIV/AIDS in the African American community. She has been named one of the Top 30 Influential Women of Houston and is a sought-after speaker and consultant for corporations, nonprofits, healthcare systems, and law firms.
Therapeutic Approach
Kandice tailors her approach to each client, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities to support lasting healing and growth. Her work is grounded in the belief that understanding the why behind patterns is just as important as building the skills to change them.
Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she helps clients identify and restructure unhelpful thought patterns. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills support emotional regulation and distress tolerance. Psychodynamic therapy is used to explore unconscious patterns rooted in earlier experiences, while mindfulness-based approaches help clients build present-moment awareness and self-compassion. Sessions also integrate psychoeducation — helping clients understand the science behind their experiences — and motivational interviewing and goal-setting techniques that keep clients empowered and moving forward at every stage of their journey.
Therapeutic Approaches
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — thought restructuring
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — emotion regulation
  • Psychodynamic Therapy — unconscious patterns & root causes
  • Mindfulness-Based Approaches — present-moment awareness
  • Psychoeducation — understanding your experience
  • Motivational Interviewing & Goal Setting — empowering lasting change
Consulting & Speaking
